Tip #6 of 8 Tips for Building an Innovative Business and Life

I have a confession. I have 50,901 emails in my inbox. I deleted 10,000 emails in January and 10,000 in February to get me to this number. As I enter the spring and summer season, I’m going to spend more time reviewing old emails and making room for the new.

As a writer, non-profit founder and historian, I hold on to things that can provide documentation for projects. Journals, notebooks, documents, books and emails hold a wealth of historical information. When I wrote my teaching memoir a few years ago, I was so grateful that I had saved journals and emails to sift through. The emails helped me remember things I had forgotten and filled in the gaps while also providing a rich context with the exact words I had used.

When talking about managing energy and time, clutter is one of the things to consider. Ten years of selected emails were not clutter until I was finished with them. They served me well and now I am complete. It’s time to review more of them and delete the ones I don’t need. I feel them weighing me down. It’s time to free up some energy. And that is the key. I feel them weighing me down.

Time to let go.

Tip #6 of 8 is Manage Your Time and Energy. One thing to consider is decluttering in a way that makes sense…
