In the song I Forgive Me by Tim McAfee-Lewis and Michael Bernard Beckwith, the words begin with forgiveness for yourself:

I’m tired of the guilt, that brings me pain, now is the time for me to let go of my shame. The past behind me. I see anew. I’m ready for my change.

I forgive me. I forgive me. Everything that I’ve been holding onto, I let go. I surrender.

The song continues with words about forgiving others:

I forgive them. I forgive them. Everything that I’ve been holding onto, I let go. I surrender.

Forgiveness begins within you. It is a gift you give to yourself that frees you from the burden of holding onto pain.

I went to bed late last night feeling discouraged about the Presidential election. This whole election had energized me to be more involved with government and more informed about our representation. It awakened even more of my voice as I saw a woman receive the Democratic nomination and I listened to her powerful voice in three debates. I found myself standing taller and with a stronger, braver voice. I had a new vision of what it looked like to be a woman who could use her voice for good. I saw what was possible
