Flip the Script: Stress
Day Forty-four:
Stress
“We tend to think that stress is like a pair of slippers- one-size-fits-all. Either we’re stressed or we’re not. But the fact is that stress comes in different shapes, sizes, and levels of intensity. In general, stressors can be grouped into three categories. Ongoing low-level stress. Nagging unfinished tasks. Major life events.” ~You Staying Young by Dr Michael F. Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Stress is a part of our everyday life in little and big ways. As we enter this week of flipping the script on the body, I’m curious about how we can be proactive with supporting our bodies to not take on the stress and when we do lock stress into our bodies, how to release it.
Today I have been thinking about how I use most of my body practices when I am in crisis or chaos. I don’t think about doing them to release the daily build-up of stress (other than daily walks). I want to change that.
Recently I started a Sunday evening practice of using a facial mask and doing a foot soak to draw out impurities in my body. This feels like a place where I could add a 15-minute stress release practice to an existing routine. Beginning with a baby step and seeing how I can grow it. Is this something that I could do daily or twice a week? I feel an experiment brewing.
