Today I want to celebrate storytelling and how Taylor Swift being chosen as Time Magazine’s person of the year is an ode to good storytelling and collaboration. https://time.com/6342806/person-of-the-year-2023-taylor-swift/
During the summer of 2008, my daughter and I saw Taylor Swift perform with the Jonas Brothers in Los Angeles at the Honda Center (Anaheim). We had the gift of being there for the filming of the Jonas Brothers concert and spent the day being the crowd and hanging out with the performers all day. The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift and the bands were all in the film. (My daughter and I traveled to 15 concerts that summer and 45 concerts during the summer of 2009.)
That close introduction to Taylor connected me to her music and I became a follower, witnessing the way she has used it to tell stories about what it is like to be a girl growing into a woman in this world. She was 19 years old that summer and now she is 34 years old. She is part of a new archetype and a paradigm shift. When I talk about looking for cracks of light that demonstrate the world is…
