Resilience and Adaptability

A chaos point is the crucial tipping point in the evolution of a system in which trends that have brought the system to its present state breakdown, and it can no longer return to its prior states and modes of behavior. It wasn’t until I read Malcolm Gladwell’s books, “Outliers: The Story of Success” and “The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference,” that I began to understand that some of the ways I had been considered a “failure” in my family was because all the major transitions I had in my life, for example, leaving a job to get married and move to another state, were during economic crises in the country where I live.

I really can’t fault my family for not understanding. None of them are economists and although they had stocks and played the stock market, they didn’t connect the dots with me not being able to find a job. It also gives me more compassion for myself when I thought I was doing something wrong. Sometimes I found out information, years or decades later, that explained that there were no jobs in a particular industry because of a shortage of funding or a…
