Be an instrument of peace

“In order to achieve peace, we need to release blocked energy. Sometimes referred to as catharsis: the purging of a deep toxin but it’s associated energies. Catharsis can come in many forms. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle built on the notion of medical purging to give us our contemporary sense of releasing pent up emotions. He felt that audiences watching a tragedy could release their own subconscious fears or other emotions that might otherwise negatively control them if held on to. It is also good to remind ourselves that healing catharsis can come from laughter as well as tears. Both are conduits of releasing pent up energy. Laughter releases the pressure valve of internalized negative energy and can allow us to see a situation with fresh eyes unclouded by blocked feelings. Comedians can do more for peacemaking than many a preacher. ~James O’Dea, Cultivating Peace

There are two ideas I want to explore today.

1. Cultivating our capacity to hold more sensation in our bodies.

2. Noticing what shows up to be cleared when you pray for peace or something else.

Cultivating our capacity to feel and hold more sensation in our bodies.
