Deeper Listening: Connecting with your Soul Purpose

Two questions I ask myself whenever there is a challenge and I am at a crossroads.

1. Why am I here?

2. What does my soul want to experience?

At the crossroads, I begin by asking a few questions. Then, I post the questions on my computer and refrigerator to keep them present while I wait for an idea, inspiration or answer.

Some of the craziest, amazing things have come out of asking questions and waiting. After my husband died in July 2005, I asked questions about continuing to live in our house or to sell it. I asked questions about continuing to live in Baltimore or to move somewhere else. For a few years, I had other details to handle like clearing out our basement and selling my husband’s businesses. I stayed open and curious with no grasping for answers…most of the time.

In January 2009, I received the first clue. I was flying home from LA to Baltimore. Eyes closed and relaxing when I saw an image of a U-haul truck in the driveway of our home. I sat up straight and inwardly asked, “Am I selling the house? Where are we going?” No more answers or images. So, when I got home, I started to go through material possessions and made a plan to clear out the 11 room house, one item at a time. Three days later, the next clue arrived. Sell the house. Call a
