There was a tradition with each Heal My Voice book program. After five months of writing, when all the stories were complete, each woman signed up to read her story out loud. Twenty-two women from around the world gathered on an Instant Teleseminar call for a week of speaking, listening and witnessing. Each day, the call began with a prayer that honored each woman’s voice. All the phone lines were muted when the first woman was invited to read her story out loud. When she was finished, we held a space of silence for one minute. Her words lingering in the air, the breath, the pause.
I unmuted my phone line and thanked the woman for sharing her story, for using her voice, her words and her courage. She thanked me and muted her line.
