Day Ten: Engage with your Intuition
Day Ten: Engage with your Intuition
“Ten times a day something happens to me like this — some strengthening throb of amazement — some good sweet empathic ping and swell. This is the first, the wildest and the wisest thing I know: that the soul exists and is built entirely out of attentiveness.” ~ Mary Oliver

When I lived in Burbank, California, my teenage daughter and I shared a car. On most days, I walked a mile to the grocery store and had a chance to observe the world around me at a slower pace. I love the ‘ten times a day’ Mary Oliver mentions in her poem. ‘Ten times a day’ included seeing movie stars in Trader Joe’s who were grocery shopping like all of the ‘regular people.’ Or walking slowly and touching bushes and plants and noticing a hummingbird flying along beside me. Sometimes I walked on the busier streets and felt the hustle and bustle of traffic. The gift of that year was tuning in to a still voice inside of me. It was a cultivation and connection to my soul. Slowing down helped me to pay attention to what was going on around me on the inside and outside.
